My sister-in-law is a teacher and as soon as I saw this, I knew it was perfect for her class. While the directions are a bit dicey and hard to understand, the concept is easy to understand. The base has a switch on the bottom you turn on that turns on some LED lighting on the bottom of the base. You then carefully take the globe and center it over the base gently easing toward the bottom center until you feel the tug of the magnetic force. When you do, jiggle the globe a bit and slowly move downward to the middle of the base and you will feel the globe stop then let go. The globe should be suspended above the base. Now, it may take a few times to get it right and be careful of the magnet pulling it too quickly to the base because it could break. Be patient and it will connect. Once it does, it is AWESOME. You then hit the power button on the front of the base and the globe lights up and slowly turns. It is a huge conversation starter and I am having a hard time giving it to her because I like it so much but the kids will love it, too.

Very cool globe that is a science project, too. LOL
